At present six centres of the ATDC at Chennai, Bangalore,
Delhi, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata are functioning and imparting training. These training centres are committed towards
imparting professional training to the personnel in the field of garment manufacturing technology, including pattern making
/ cutting techniques, production supervision & quality control techniques to ensure that quality garments are manufactured.

The training centres have modern facilities
such as sewing and cutting labs, library, well equipped classrooms & competent and trained faculty. Ever since these centres
started training in the year 1996, over 10,000 persons have been trained till date and around 2000 students are undergoing
training in different courses. The students trained at various Centres of ATDC are readily employed by garment industry and
feedback received from the industry on the performance of our students is very encouraging. ATDC is therefore trying to develop
the skills at grass root level to meet the requirement of the garment industry.
Admission Process
The training courses are open to both men and women who posses the minimum
educational qualification. Selection is based on merit and personal interview. The application duly filled in along with attested
copies of degree / certificates / mark sheets, fees as applicable and two passport size photographs (one to be pasted on the
application fssorm) is to be submitted to the respective Training Centre either directly or through post. The admissions are
done twice in the Calendar year i.e in January & July by advertising the admission notice in the Employment News and leading
news papers etc.
Course contents & Scope
1. Diploma in Apparel Manufacturing Technology (AMT)
AMT is an intensive course designed to give detailed knowledge on all
aspects of garment construction. It includes all the aspects of production technology, pattern making, packaging, dispatch
of shipment as well as marketing & merchandising skills required for an executive to equip him with the necessary knowledge
& skills for handling production in garment factories.
2. Diploma in Fashion Sampling / Co-ordination (FSC)
The course is designed to train professionals to work as sampling co-ordinators
in a garment export unit. It imparts complete inputs required to interpret designs and develop the same keeping in mind the
required specifications.
3. Production Supervision & Quality Control Course (PSQC)
The course provides in depth knowledge of production processes, Systems,
Machinery and materials used in the Apparel Industry. The students qualifying Production Supervision & Quality Control
Course are absorbed in the Garment industry as Production Managers, Quality Controllers in Buying House, Assembly line Supervisors,
Field Quality Assurance inspectors and Asst. managers at various levels.
4. Pattern Cutting Master Course (PCMC)
The basic aim of the course is to impart technical skills in making and
grading patterns for different types of garments. The pattern maker learns to interpret sketches, specifications and measurements
into patterns and construct garments to test fit on the dress form. The course is targeted to train students to construct
patterns on Export House methods. At the end of the course students are sent for two weeks Industrial Training in the Garment
Industry. This course covers Pattern Making, Production Technology, Textiles Sewing Practical & Quality Control. The qualified
students are absorbed in the Industry as Pattern Masters, Asst. Pattern Masters and Quality Controllers.
5. Machine Mechanic Course (MMC)
The aim of the course is to train people as machine mechanics for the
Garment Industry. The training improves technical skills and know-how of the various machines used in the production of knits
& wovens. The students are trained in maintenance and repair of high speed industrial sewing machines so as to increase
the production by reducing break downs.
6. Sewing Machine Operator Course (SMOC)
The objective is to impart skills required for opening basic industrial
sewing machines. It provides basic inputs necessary for training assembly line sewing operators. Training is provided on computerized
Juki, Pegasus and Brother etc. Industrial machine for both woven and knits. Trained machine operators get absorbed in assembly
like garments factories. The Course includes introduction to Sewing Machine and function of important parts, Upkeep of Sewing
Machine, Use of measuring tools, Basic Sewing Machine Control, Threading of Sewing Machine, Stitching on different shapes,
Seaming garment components together in various fabrics to specified quality and quality standard, Stitching and seaming quality.
7. Fabric Sourcing and Appreciation
This courses provides training in the field of fabrics used in the garment
industry. The course enables the students to classify and identify the fabrics. It also provide inputs for fabric procurement
through various sources.
8. Measurement and Quality Controller
This course provides training in the field of checking measurements and
other quality parameters related to garments during inprocess inspection. Trained students get employed as garment checkers
and quality controllers in the industry.
9. Apparel Merchandising
The course contents includes Textile fibres, yarn & Fabric, Apparel
accessories, Garment types, Stitches & Seams, Production Systems, Costing of Garments, ISO Quality Certification, Export
Marketing, Inco Terms, Garment Categories & Classification etc. This course is designed to give better knowledge for the
existing junior level merchandising personnel in the garment industry. This also suits for fresh candidates who are aspiring
to become merchandisers in the garment industry and buying house.
